Grany's House

We designed a weekend retreat that also serves as a potential commercial rental, such as an Airbnb getaway. The site—a picturesque 2-acre contoured farmland—slopes downward, offering a dramatic natural setting. One of the key design challenges was that the most captivating views were towards the south, which also exposed the structure to harsh sunlight.

To address this, we oriented the house to frame the panoramic views while incorporating deep, low-height balconies that shield the interiors from direct southern heat. By carefully navigating the site’s natural contours, we positioned the entry at the upper level, where visitors are immediately greeted with expansive views of the calm backwaters. A staircase then descends to the lower level, where leisure activities unfold—a games area and a pool nestled within lush greenery, creating a seamless blend between indoor comfort and outdoor serenity.
